BERA: "[betray] this name is common to several species of touracos, but more specifically, it is used for the Green turaco (tauraco persa / Guinea turaco) ». In the French-Boulez dictionary published by Nouvelles Éditions ivoiriennes 2003.
BERA is the name that the Baoulé (an ethnic group from the Centre of the Côte d'Ivoire) give to the Green Turaco, a magnificent savanna bird known for its gorgeous plumage, it is of superb beauty, but above all, it is the tweet of this bird that makes it a wonderful singer of forests.
In ancient Egypt,"Bera"or 'beyra' is the Benou' bird, it is the symbol of transformation, renaissance and renewal which announces a better future!
In Baoule symbolism, the name of the "bera" is sung through allusions to bring forth a situation which calls for the awareness of all members of the community. Hence, Bera also stands for Messenger, the one who puts his or her beautiful voice at the service of the community, for the common good.
The eponymous bird is the symbol of the junction between a heterogeneous, dynamic Africa, undergoing tremendous change and a world community seeking viable solutions vis-a-vis environment, development, and security challenges.
